A Short Play for Teletheatre:

The Books are permanent friends

The stage:

Eve is sitting in her room and reading a book.

In a part of her room, there is a bookshelf full of books.

Adam is knocking on the door.

Eve: Come in!

Adam, meanwhile is astonished: Oh! Are you sitting alone?!

Eve: No. I became alone, just now you entered.

Adam: How weren’t you alone? You were alone!

Eve: I wasn’t alone because I was with my book! With my love! All my books are my loves...

Adam: Do you mean I interrupted between you and your book? Your friends?

Eve: Yes, of course!… The books are the best friends. You never feel alone with them... You never will be alone with them!

Adam: Me too, I don’t feel alone with social media...

Eve: Never! Never social media can take the place of the books.

I can select the books with awareness, but social media actually select you, without your awareness!

Sometime they only take your time, and don’t give you something useful.

Sometime they pull you to themselves, and when you be awared you have lost many things!

In a long time term, they badly influence on you…

Sometime social media cause you to feel suffering, like as suffering from depression, but you never feel suffering if you pass your time with the books. The books not only withdrow you from loneliness, but give you all those useful for your life.

In a day, I was watching a teletheatre in a monitor of a library in Warsaw.

Frequently came to my mind to write a short play, so much suitable and necessary for the libraries, because it must be about the importance of the books and they role in the life, especially for teenagers. This is what I imaginated at first, and then started to write.
